Yeah, the LJ comms served that purpose too, but it was all intermingled with the rest. Now the noticeboard function is the only thing left, in most cases.

I just hope some sort of answer emerges before large chunks of fandom history get eaten by the black hole that is the Discord backscroll. It's where I'm enjoying myself most at the moment, but it's glorified IRC, and the lack of anything more permanent to refer back to is already starting to drive me bonkers.

Kinkmemes are hit-or-miss, I think; all the Marvel ones except hydratrashmeme keep dying, and even that's slowed down considerably. FFA is still going strong, I think. But that format--everything living in threaded comments, buried in a post that's already been bumped off your flist--anecdotally gets the strongest "what. the. fuck. this is impenetrable." reactions from Tumblr people. (Which... understandable! It's a clever hack to allow anons to open topics, but an organizational nightmare.)

Now I'm wondering what fandom would look like if Dreamwidth didn't suck on mobile...
