And just when you thought the saga of the endless computer repair was OVER...
Just got off the phone with HP. My computer is going to get shipped back to them yet AGAIN for fixin', because the fan is buzzing and spluttering and generally sounding like a vibrator operated by a drunken chimpanzee. And no, it did not do this before--either they fucked it up or it got fucked up in transit.
Moral of the story: never buy anything from HP unless you plan to replace it the instant it breaks. Because not only do you have to navigate endless automated phone trees and listen to awful hold music before getting redirected to some poor bastard in a call center in the Philippines, once you send your computer off to get fixed they will break it in a different way. This shit has been going on all summer and if they don't have it working by the time I go to France... well, I hope they're prepared to eat the transatlantic shipping charges. Fuckers.
Am going to try to get a decent MP3 player before I ship it back so at least I'll have all my music. Sigh.
