The s1 finale was pretty great, minus the weird reality TV thing, but Pandorica Opens/Big Bang is one of those things that makes less sense the more I think about it. The place it eventually went was fantastic, but it got there via a succession of plot twists held together by handwaving, rubber bands, chewing gum, and Moffat relying on us being too mindfucked to think very hard about the wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey. Whereas in this one you only have one thing swept under the rug, namely why the fuck did Kovarian come up with such an elaborate plot to kill the Doctor, and if you ignore that or assume fucked-up causality is a natural consequence of time-travelling warfare, the rest of it is absolutely solid.
*flaily hands* I would just feel bad writing a fix-it for something I don't think is broken!
