Just picked up Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson again. Man, if you have not read that book, you are seriously deprived. It has everything that could possibly be considered cool, and it mocks it all shamelessly along the way. Ludicrous, cyberpunk visions of the future; sex; virtual reality; Japanese swordfighting; Japanese swordfighting IN virtual reality; a memetic virus that spreads through a virtual drug; long lessons in Sumerian mythology; Pentecostal Christianity and people speaking in tongues; and, of course, the baddest motherfucker in the world. But honestly, how can you resist a book where the Mafia owns a pizza delivery service and the main character's name is Hiro Protagonist?
*sighs happily* It's one of those books that creates its own world, and it manages to have more bizarre little facets and subplots and Really Cool Stuff than all the Harry Potter books put together, and all in less than 500 pages. I love this book.
