I am an insane person.
Tentative course selection for fall semester:
1. Computer Science 112
2. Math 111 (re-taking calculus, ugh)
3. One French class (depends on what I place into)
4. WILDCARD! Choices include Old Norse (ftw!), sight-singing, Intro to Microeconomics, Romantic poetry and prose, or Sherlock Holmes and the Scientific Method. Am tending towards Norse because I don't think it's offered every semester.
5. Going to audit Latin I if they let me.
Why does this make me insane? Because right at the top of the "registration advice for new students" is "DON'T TAKE A BUNCH OF SRS BSNS CLASSES WITH A BUNCH OF WORK YOUR FIRST SEMESTER; these include anything involving math, chem, physics, computer science, or languages because languages are insanely intense here." So being an idiot, I am taking math, computer science, and either two or three languages depending on whether the Latin department has a stick up their asses.
Then again, I suppose Smithies aren't exactly renowned for things like common sense or taking on sane courseloads. Not to mention that as much as I love Byron, I would rather do calc problem sets than write essays about him. It's just the way my brain works.
ALSO, Washington DC people, I will probably be taking the bus back on the first weekend in September to come see Les Mis at Wolf Trap. This is quite possibly further evidence of insanity, but hey, at least I didn't go through with my plans to skive off an orientation lecture this afternoon, borrow a friend's car, drive it over the Canadian border to Québec, and try to get there to see Les Mis by 8pm. (It was really tempting, I assure you.)
And if anyone wants to meet in Québec some weekend in September for LM-in-French, lemme know. It's only a six-hour drive from Northampton, which means if you let me drive it will be more like five.
