Luke, you've switched off your recipe computer.
Okay, when I woke up in the morning the finch had flown out. Tragic death by pecking averted. ;)
Mom's still up in New England for the next few days, so I have the house to myself and I get to do a trial run of Cooking For Myself and other exciting adventures. Actually, I have discovered that blasting epic soundtracks while in the kitchen does make cooking an exciting adventure, if only in my head. Oh yeah, my stir-fry is hot enough to blow up the Death Star! The Emperor of the Daleks is reduced to ashes by my culinary might! All the elves of Lothlórien sing of the heartbreaking beauty of my spaghetti carbonara! Etc. Next step: ghetto-blast the 1812 overture to accompany my morning egg-in-a-basket. Guy Fawkes mask optional.
Really everything is better with your own personal soundtrack, it's just that cooking gets particularly epic. Possibly because I'm not that great a cook in reality, so just getting everything on the table with nothing burned or still raw--let alone proper portion sizes--is something of a daring undertaking.
