Lyric meme.

Step 1: Get your playlist together, put it on random, and play.
Step 2: Pick your favorite lines from the first 25 songs that play.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song the lines come from. (No Googling. :P)
Step 4: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

1. Some nights I still can't sleep, but the voices pass with time, and I keep (no no no) no time for tears...

2. Ready, steady, stop! Hurry up and wait / The tick-tick-ticking of the clock / delineates your fate

3. Don't talk of worlds that never were / the end is always ever true / there's nothing you can ever say / nothing you can ever do

4. Forget your fears, you will have everything

5. Beneath the stains of time, the feelings disappear / You are someone else; I am still right here

6. Sie leben hinterm Sonnenschein / getrennt von uns, unendlich weit [livejournal.com profile] thehunter: 'Engel' by Rammstein

7. Oft schien es mir ich wär bei dir, doch es war nur ein Traum [livejournal.com profile] ladyknight30: 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again' from the German production of The Phantom of the Opera

8. What goes around will come around, and after all, we all fall down / But no one here is anyone, and in a while we'll all be gone

9. Frost upon these cigarettes, lipstick on the windowpane and I've lost all sense of the world outside but I can't forget so I call your name

10. Und wenn du mir die Knute gibst, weiß ich daß auch du mich liebst

11. Что нас ждет - море хранит малчанье / Жажда жить сушит сердца до дна (ack, all my Russian has left me. and I have been reduced to hunt-and-peck on the Cyrillic keyboard layout without the letter written on the keys. kill me. this song still amuses me though.)

12. I don't think you trust in my self-righteous suicide / I cry when angels deserve to die (see! an easy one!) [livejournal.com profile] urban_e_ronin: 'Chop Suey!' by System of a Down

13. I'm so happy, 'cause today I found my friends / they're in my head (another easy one)

14. Born from silence, silence full of it / perfect concert, my best friend

15. [sie] schiesst meine Sorge ins Gesicht, und aus den beiden Hälften bricht der Vater aller Spiegel [livejournal.com profile] thehunter: 'Kokain' by Rammstein

16. Take a good plunge, stand out from the masses, bend over backwards and kick some asses

17. Blue his house, with a blue little window and a blue Corvette... (This song STILL makes me hyper.) [livejournal.com profile] patchsassy: 'Blue' by Eiffel 65

18. His head mashed in and his heart cut out and his liver removed and his bowels unplugged and his nostrils raped and his bottom burnt off and his penis--"That's quite enough music for now, lads!" [livejournal.com profile] thehunter: 'Brave Sir Robin' by Monty Python

24."Now is the only thing that's real" / "The police used to watch over the people, now they're watching the people" (okay, it's a sample, sue me)

25. She tied you to a kitchen chair / she broke your throne, she cut your hair / and from your lips she drew the 'hallelujah' [livejournal.com profile] thehunter: 'Hallelujah' by Rufus Wainwright/Jeff Buckley/John Cale/take your pick

Note: I have skipped a lot of stuff. Mostly it's random songs I never listen to and don't know well enough to pick lyrics, but there are also Phantom of the Opera tracks in languages I don't speak, instrumentals, parts of various requiems and such where posting the lyrics would not have indicated the composer, and a number of tracks by a few bands that got disproportionate representation due to large discographies and/or me owning every single obscure remix and B-side they ever put out =P

Woo, I get the easy one.

12. System of a Down - Chop Suey!

Oh, and because I'm a bit of a Leonard Cohen freak I want to point out that he was the one who actually wrote #25 - everyone else is a big stealerer.
