XD Dad offered to take me driving tonight... I had a specific place I wanted to go in the middle of M street. The conversation went something like:
Dad: You want to DRIVE. In GEORGETOWN. On a SATURDAY EVENING.
Me: ...yes?
Dad: You're bloody insane.
Me: I'll be in charge of parking?
Dad: Well, ok.
We went to Smash, a little punkish shop that's something like a cross between an 80s relic of a record store and one step down from Hot Topic--overpriced pre-ripped clothing, but they also sell used cassettes for two or three bucks each and have an extensive collection of punk/darkwave/deathrock LPs, and blast the Damned instead of American Headcharge or whatever crap-ass nu-metal is popular now. These are important distinctions, damn it.
Anyway. Loot. Since it's almost my birthday, I convinced Dad to buy me five tapes--Kraftwerk + assorted 80s goth and punk--two t-shirts (the Cure and Skinny Puppy), and some extra pyramid studs for a sweatshirt I'm destroying. Fun shit, and I got home to discover that my Sisters t-shirt had arrived through the mail. So today has been the day of shameless consumerist whoredom and attempts to convince myself that I am Not A Goth Damn It, and I'm pretty spent on that for the moment. Although I might go back to get this beat-up leather jacket they were selling for $20 or so which almost fit me. Curse being short.
Dammit, I should've gone back to the other house to get my tape player. That Mission UK cassette is calling me...
