The air conditioning is finally on. I have essentially an attic room, so it took a while to be noticeable, but damn does it feel good now, especially now that the Washington summer has really started to kick in.

It's official--my Star Wars obsession is back, and with a vengeance. If you're not interested in reading my dribble about this particular fandom, defriend at will and I won't hold it against you. God knows I found some of the more extremely obsessed Star Wars fans annoying when I wasn't that into it, and that's coming from someone who dressed up as a Jedi Knight for the premiere of Attack of the Clones. (Shut UP.) General State of the Obsession: Seen Revenge of the Sith twice. Wish to see it again soon. Re-watching the original trilogy, none of this special edition nonsense. Retrieved 1997 remastered 2-disc soundtracks from the other house, was extremely put out that I couldn't find the cassette soundtrack because that version rules. Attempting to download RotS; first file should be done sometime next morning. At some point will rent TPM and AotC as well and have a Nine While Nine Star Wars Marathon some night with all six movies. Re-reading Zahn's Thrawn trilogy; attempted to delve into other EU books but was unable to stomach the horrible writing. Have had that silly Battle Hymn of the Empire filk stuck in my head all frelling weekend. Toying with fic and icon ideas.

I need some throwaway fic ideas to get myself back in shape where writing is concerned. I think part of the writers' block problem is that I keep expecting what comes out to be better than it is; if I just sit back and let myself write crap, either it'll come out really good, or it'll come out crappy and I can keep practicing until I can sit back and let myself write good fic. I hope. Maybe I can mooch around challenge communities for throwaway ideas and practice on those, without actually promising to post anything.

I already have an incentive for icon-making though: I have no Star Wars icons. Well, I have one, but it's been altered and had its context removed, so it's not really a SW icon anymore. But in any case, I need to get crackin' on icons if I'm going to keep commenting in all the [livejournal.com profile] jedi_news links.

Yeah, well, when Lucas re-released the old trilogy in the theaters a few years ago, our local movie theater let you in free if you came dressed as a character. I showed up as Han Solo, basically in a white shirt with a borrowed vest over it and black jeans. "I'm Han Solo," I said to the guy at the ticket window, leaning forward and pointing to myself. I mean, any fat long-haired blonde chick in glasses and that getup could hardly be mistaken for anything else, clearly, but I live in the sticks and you have to underline things for people.

You've seen ROTS twice? I saw The Fellowship of the Ring NINETEEN TIMES in the theater. Fear my geekiness.

Still, lightsabers beat rings. I mean, that's a given.

Yes, twice--because I'm broke, and also because I'm holding out on that goddamn Bit Torrent link, which is slowly but steadily getting my movie to me. But there's really nothing like a giant screen and a giant soundsystem, which is why I want to go back, heh.

Now, if it were a re-release of Empire Strikes Back, I'd already have seen it ten times in theaters. But it's Revenge of the Sith: "I'd just as soon kiss a Wookiee" nineteen times in surround sound is infinitely preferable to "No, you're beautiful because I'm so in love with you" nineteen times in surround sound.

I'm already thinking about how much fabric I'd need to make Anakin's black Jedi robes.
