Been to all my classes by now. Here's the round-up:

Sophomore seminar: If freshman sem was meaningless mental acrobatics, this one is the gymnastics event of the mental Olympics. Reeeeeeams of pointless bullshit. Unfortunately, it's required.
Vocal performance: I get to sing. Yay. That's really all I can tell about this so far.
Arabic: Fast-paced, but should be good. The professor seems a lot more competent than my tenth-grade Russian teacher, which is good considering how different it is from English.
Creative writing: I'm dropping this one. Not only do I hate being forced to produce, but we're doing mostly poetry this semester and if there's one thing I am definitely not, it's a poet.
History of the English language: So much fun. omg. This class is my chance to geek out on languages. w00t.

Also, I have managed to spend three days in my room and it is still neat as a pin. It must be some sort of record. I'm going through quite a bit of effort to make my room nice this year, because I have resolved that I will not sit in there and wallow in my own depression like I did last year; my room shall be my happy place. It SHALL, god dammit.

Oh, and I pierced my eyebrow. I wish I could post pictures, but (a) my camera is 400 miles away, and (b) my computer is also 400 miles away, and it is broken. It wasn't particularly painful, which is good because my first two attempts didn't come out too well in terms of placement, but it does ache a bit now. Oh, and the bastards sold me a needle with a higher gauge than the jewelry, so I had a job getting it in. But now it's all prettyful.

...I'd forgotten that all the computers in the library are named after characters from Shakespeare. Indeed, I am typing this entry on Fortinbras, and the guy next to me is surfing the web on Ophelia, and both of those sounded vaguely dirty. Oooh, baby, I'll surf your web.

*whine* I wish voice lessons would start again soon. Not only have I fallen head over heels in love with "Lascia ch'io pianga" and want to learn it, but my teacher and I need to talk about conservatories.

Oooh Arabic! Neat. I hope your year goes exceedingly well.

Seriously, are you the smartest person your age alive or what? I remember high school and college and I took three years of French, NONE of which I can remember, and I sort of sleepwalked through my classes in general. You're so enthusiastic and engaged and energetic and I really, really wish I'd been that way, and I could remember more than party tricks. Good luck this year, really. I think you'll do well.

Actually, compared to most of the other people here, I'm downright stupid. At least, most of them seem to enjoy discussing Virginia Woolf's reaction to the patriarchal capitalist militarism and/or Marx and postmodernism, all of which produces either eye-rolling or snoring from me. The people here are really, really scary.

My mum loves "Lascia ch'io pianga", I practically grew up with it... It really is beautiful.

Oh and yay for eyebrow piercings, 'cause they're sexay! *noddle*
