Ah, I love our ADD classes. Yesterday we were supposed to be discussing Darwin, and yet wound up having half an hour's worth of discussion on the implications of creating artificial intelligence (with Blade Runner and Matrix references thrown in for fun). If we knew enough about our own neurology to replicate it in a machine, would we be able to directly change our brains instead and make computers (and AI) obsolete? Would a subjugated race of machines replace the proletariat? If we create a race of machines in our own image and then lose control of them, does that mean that God is dead or just that mankind has made God into its slave?
Ah, the beauty of intellectual masturbation.
And then the professor tried to drag us back to Darwin and we proceeded to discuss eugenics for another half hour.
You know, it occurs to me that instead of babbling about all this on LiveJournal I really should be writing a paper for this particular class. A paper that happens to be due tomorrow.
*kills time on ebay to stave off writing paper*
