My mom rocks.
In case any of you weren't familiar with the awesomeness of my mother, ice hockey player, amateur botanist, maker of fake IDs for her children, lawyer for motocross riders, and all-around wonderful person, here is a brief snippet of conversation from tonight:
Me: Oh shit. I've been attacked by a plot bunny.
Mom: Write it. It's the universe trying to tell you something.
Me: The universe is trying to tell me to write Les Miserables slash?
Mom: ...we're talking about the universe responsible for the creation of aardvarks, here. Anything's possible.
Well, when you put it that way... right then, one slashy drabble coming right up.
I went to the mall today. I was actually going in search of smelly bath products, but I got lured in by the trashy siren song of Goth-In-A-Box, AKA Hot Topic, AKA "my ded iz pastede on yay." Where I promptly blew $50 on Cruxshadows and compilation CDs and a pair of goggles, only to lose the fucking bag somewhere in the mall. The universe is indeed trying to tell me something: "don't shop at Hot Topic, even when they sell decent stuff."
Aside from that unfortunate incident, I did remarkably well at avoiding the materialistic mall urges. I got my smelly bath products, poked around B. Dalton for a while, went to the piano store and bitched about the sticky keys on the one I played, and actually resisted the urge to buy a Force FX lightsaber even when the guy in Sharper Image did his best Star-Wars-fan-to-Star-Wars-fan sales pitch. The front desk and Hot Topic both have my phone number now in case someone drops the bag off (or tries to return the merchandise), although I suspect my stuff is long gone. Sigh.

Any chance you're coming to Lancaster for Thanksgiving? I could use a friend to shop with on Black Friday. . . HT has some cool HIM stuff and I cannot shop there alone.
