One last hurdle tonight. One last hurdle that involves a one-page analysis of Zerlina's 'Batti batti' aria, a character biography for the musical, the revision of a German paper, and the finding of 10 primary and 4 secondary sources about U.S. hegemony in southeast Asia during the Cold War.
I can do this.
And after that I'm home free. I have fic ideas, and I'll finally have the time to write them. I can fool around with my music notation software and do stupid shit with the Sims, and download movies to my heart's content, and finally eat real food not hastily cooked pasta or cafeteria goo, and order silly things off ebay just because they're too cheap not to, and go thrifting, and finally get some practice in with the tablet and Photoshop, and get some self-teachin' in on the violin, and visit all my favorite haunts in DC. Why? Because as of tomorrow at 2:00 PM, I will be ON VACATION.
I'd love to tell y'all that what I'm most looking forward to this break is getting to visit
elfmanfan, or the possibility of traveling to San Francisco, or taking a little road trip down the East Coast to get home, or something exciting like that... but nope. That's all thrilling, but what is most appealing about tomorrow is that I'll finally get a reprieve from this fucking workload, and will have ten days of leisure time without deadlines hanging ominously over my head. This is the break I really fucking need or I will just
snap.
*...grumble* Why must I always get the early-morning music slots? German's cancelled tomorrow, so I'd get to sleep in if it weren't for the fucktards in student affairs who scheduled my violin lesson for nine in the morning.
The musical really is taking its toll on me... in voice lesson today I basically ended up screaming "No more harmony, no more alto parts, no more musicals, if you have an ounce of mercy in your soul give me something classical for a soprano voice, PLEASE!" So now I'm being fed a steady diet of Schubert and my lungs hate me. Heh. Note to self: practice breath control exercises over break.
