That Time of Year is approaching again, and I get to think about what I want to be for Halloween. Improving the Enjolras costume might be fun, now that I have plenty of time and places to buy fabric for a proper tricolor sash, and now that I'm not going to have any more hair disasters. (Two years ago I attempted to bleach the purple dye out of my hair and color it blond. Instead it turned pink. At that stage it was also two inches long and stubbornly fluffy, so until I attacked it with more dye it bore a startling resemblance to cotton candy. Quite unsuitable for an Enjolras costume.) On the other hand, something feels fundamentally lazy about reusing a Halloween costume.
I've also been toying with the idea of an Edward Scissorhands costume, which would be fun--and cutting the scissorhands out of foam board and spray-painting them silver seems remarkably easy compared to the effort involved in stitching forty-two rows of gold braid onto a vest. Seems like it'd be an awesome costume for a relatively low time-and-money investment.
One of these years I also want to go as a Waterhouse girl, but not until my hair hits waist-length. (Two years, at the rate it's growing.) Because long hair is a prerequisite, and wearing a wig is cheating.
