THIRTY-MINUTE DEATH SCENE OMG

LOL I saw Massenet's Werther at the Opera Bastille and it was so gloriously over the top. I guess if you're doing Werther at all you really can't go halfway on the melodrama, but I started snickering into my hand when Werther curled up into a fetal position onstage to drive home his she-doesn't-love-me angst, and I just couldn't stop after that. Because it just got more and more wonderfully ridiculous. Heaps and heaps of Romantic melodrama, all played with a completely straight face, which is the best way to do it.

Thiiiis weekend I am off to London again! Exchanged my Eurostar ticket and all that. And London means, inevitably, lots of Les Mis. \o/
