Things that are good in life right now:

- Job offer has been all squared away, I start in mid-September, benefits are awesome, and I would be slightly embarrassed to admit how much these people are paying me. Suffice to say that I put together a rough budget and it looks like my disposable income per month is going to be more than I had to throw around for a whole semester at college. Quite a bit more.

- Dragon*Con is a go, started fixing up my weeping angel costume, and I think I might've even discovered a faux-stone painting technique that doesn't look like crap. There is SO MUCH PAINTING in my future.

- Went to cousin's bat mitzvah in Buffalo NY this past weekend. Lovely ceremony, they went out of their way to explain everything that was going on to us clueless gentiles in the extended family, and miraculously, a family gathering without drama ensued. Yeah, I don't know how that happened either, I'm just glad it did because my cousins are all pretty awesome.

- Babysat the kids across the street. Which I've been doing once every couple of weeks all summer, except what started as "I need cash, you need an emergency babysitter" turned into me being oddly in demand with the kids. Especially the adorkable nine-year-old boy, because I bring over Star Wars comics and books of Greek myths and today we spent all afternoon geeking about the BBC special effects budget and how to bring down a Star Destroyer from orbit with a planetary ion cannon. And then he made me swear up and down that we could watch Daleks next time. Wee nerds = best ever.

- Julius Caesar at Shakespeare Free For All on Friday, then Fright Night and the new Doctor Who episode on Saturday. YAY. (Yes, I am going to see Fright Night, and no, I have no shame over this, and yes, the sole purpose of this excursion is to go with friends and exchange pervy comments about David Tennant as a drunk, slutty, foul-mouthed goth vampire hunter in leather trousers. Is there any other valid reason to see it?)
