Bah, I hate job-hunting.

Any suggestions on employment for a pathologically introverted nerd with no degree and very little employment experience?

I'm thinking library, maybe a bookstore or sheet music store, or even costumed tour guide at some historical place. (Yes, that contradicts "pathologically introverted," but I might as well make use of my ability to store and spout off useless information at will. And besides, petticoats!) Or even something nerdy but outside my field of expertise, like helping restore furniture at an antique shop or something.

Gah, I don't know. I just don't want to end up working at a fucking grocery store again. Even graveyard shift at the drugstore would be an improvement, at least I wouldn't have to talk to people.

How fast can you type? Over 70 wpm and you can do notary. Some of those even let you take the tapes you are to transcribe home with you.

Another vote for historical guide, but I'm partial to that since I do it!!! Wheeee! Vicotrian farm clothes are the shit yo! And it's really not that hard to talk to people since you're talking about something you know and it's interesting and really you'll never see them again.

w00t!

I'd say apply everywhere you have the slightest interest of working, and then out of the ones that want you, take the one that sounds most interesting. Then you're not limiting yourself from the beginning, and you'll probably still end up with a job that you'll enjoy at least somewhat. :-)

Newspaper copy editor would allow you to implement your linguistic skills, and be creepy in the basement of a newspaper office. Librarian, on the other hand, would lend you that intellectual chic that's become so popular again. Whereas with historically-costumed tour guide, you would have to suffer tourists.

In conclusion, I would probably opt for something involving books and quiet, and not being hot and annoyed in crinoline.

If only I knew. It looks like I have a barista job lined up, but that, regrettably, is probably going to have to entail small talk.
I'd look at bookstores. Or into selling an egg.

A librarian could work. And, I suppose there's always acting.
