Oh, and regarding the Congressional elections... I'm not throwing a party, but I can't pretend not to be pleased.  As a moderate libertarian I bear little love for the Democrats, but my wariness of them is nothing next to my aversion and digust for the monster the Republican party has become, and I'm glad to see a slightly saner party in control of the legislature.

I really, really wish I'd registered in time for the election though.  Even if the Maryland elections turned out exactly as I would have voted, it's the principle of the thing, and it really kills me that I couldn't vote the other day because I put off the fucking registration.

I know - every time I vote these days, I can't believe I'm voting for Democrats. Of course, the crazy right-wing bastards stole and eviscerated my party, and I wasn't really that hard-core of a Republican anyway, even if I was an official party member for a short period c. 2000 (that ended fast).

Of course, I'm really an anachronistic radical, but I'll just sit here in my corner with my copy of On Liberty and whine about all the morons who obviously don't understand the concept of liberty.

Hah, yeah, limited government and civil liberties appear to have given way to warhawks and fundies and slime (oh my). I don't think I'd've gotten along 100% with old-fashioned conservatism, but I sure as hell have a lot more respect for it than for the present administration.
