"If someone were to ask me why, I'd say, 'I think it's pretty!'"

Shall spare you all an account of the wedding, as it might bore you all to tears. I did indeed see Les Mis again yesterday--on the cheap, actually, since I drove this time and street parking in Hoboken is free on Sundays. So no real travel costs besides gas, whee.

No understudies besides Drew as Javert. (And apparently, according to the board, the role of Kaylie Rubinaccio was played by Young Eponine. Uh-huh.) Chip was out, so Matt got to be the Bishop--he does the same thing Gabe did on the tour, the moving like an old man, which makes me happy even though he sounded young. And Matt isn't as, er, forceful as Chip is. XD

Dan and Lea look like they're having so much fun in Fantine's arrest. Which is a weird scene to call fun, but when you think about it, they do get to sink their teeth into the acting and they both look like they're enjoying it. When Lea lifts her skirts after "I like to see what I buy," Dan gives her this absolutely priceless "I am so unimpressed" look--I think they were doing it before, but this time it was drawn-out enough to get giggles from the front row. And still with the smug smirking after he smacks her and she starts hurling threats at him, and she's no longer swearing at him but I still love them both in that scene.

Ann has improved a bit. I still don't really like her and I still hate the Christmas Eve voice, but at least she's better at being mean now.

Max and Mandy both sounded like they had some sort of vocal strain. Max, I think, has the same flu that Celia had, but there is just no excuse for Mandy. Eurgh. She got a nice fat round of applause after ALFOR, so it seems the Eppie-boppers like her. Glad someone does, at least.

Drew's Javert is about the same as he was two weeks ago. On second viewing I don't like him quite as much--now that I'm not walking into the theater with zero expectations, I can watch with a more critical eye and say that while he's good, he's not quite to my taste. I continue to be impressed that he has the body language down, but his Javert is a little too angry for me. I think if he brought out the anger more sparingly it would work better; he toned down the main part of the Suicide a little, and the end seemed more effective for it. (Yes, he still screams the end.) On the whole, he's much better than Norm, but not as good as Ben. ;)

Nice to see Adam and Ali back together--Doug and Dan are both lovely Marii on their own, but Adam and Ali have the best chemistry. And they're adorable as hell.

Celia was hanging around at the stage door and everyone pretty much made a beeline for her as soon as autographs were done, heh. Stage door was pretty lonely, actually. Aaron and Norm are gone, Chip's on vacation, and Dan either sneaked out in the opposite direction or went back in and came out again after I'd left. I saw him emerge, then I stopped to say hi to someone and he was gone. And I have the feeling Drew thinks I'm a fucking weirdo or something, because he usually says hi and then scoots off as fast as possible to go talk to fans. XD

I did get to talk to Nehal, though. And he is a freaking riot; he stops to chat more often now, possibly because we're both DC natives or something. Yesterday I mentioned him being the loudhailer and he said, "Yeah, people have a hard time figuring that out. I've talked to people who seriously thought it was Aaron. They thought he turned around and sang those parts with his back to the audience or something." Bahahahaha. I still have yet to see Nehal's Enjolras and I really want to, dammit. I'm probably a bad person for wanting Max to call in sick because of that flu he has, but it's nothing against Max really, I just want to see Nehal.

Also, I finally managed to grab Ben Crawford before he ran off. I didn't hold him up too long, because he seemed to be in a hurry as usual, but he did say he's still in rehearsal for Javert and should be able to go on after next week. Was wondering why Drew was doing every single show whenever Ben Davis was out; that's probably it. I wanna see Ben Crawford as Javert too. Haven't seen much of him, but his voice is too gorgeous for me not to be curious.

And that's about it, really. I-95 was horrid south of Baltimore and I was all flaily and PMS-y on the way home--yes I do get PMS, it makes me panicky and depressive and shoots my self-esteem to hell. Worse than getting bitchy, really. So I had a minor panic attack about not being able to socialize normally and all the weird looks I get when I say I've seen Les Mis 30 times and snide comments about "do you see any other shows?" and being an obsessive freak and feeling like I have to justify my fixation... but really, a big giant fuck-you to anyone who has a problem with my harmless eccentricity, or feels like I owe them an explanation. Why do I see Les Mis so much, to the exclusion of almost everything else? Because I like it. Nobody who looks down on me for my nerdiness deserves more of an explanation than that. It makes me happy. I'm not hurting anyone by it. So fuck off.

(And if the previous paragraph was rather crude as an expression of self-respect, give me a fucking break. I'm still fumbling around for the location of my backbone here.)

I've never understood why people get so unhinged by someone else's hobbies. People fly all over the place to see sports games, and paint themselves their team colors, and that's all right; I knew someone who saw Titanic over 20 times and that's all right. But watch a musical repeatedly? Not that!

Crazy scale (1 = average NPR host; 10 = Kenneth Eng)

Seeing musicals repeatedly = 2

Asking actors to sign memorabilia relating to early days of their careers (I would never do this! ;) ) = 3

Throwing underwear at four musical theatre actors playing the Four Seasons = 11

At what level would you classify owning a laminating machine? *g*

Hrm, that's a toughie. ;-) Probably on the same level as being "good enough" to have your creative visual masterpieces displayed on BWW.

My heart is so full of love right now...

I've seen Les Mis 30 times too. People give me weird looks as well. Clearly, people suck.

I LOVE Matt Clemens as the Bishop. Probably my favorite.
