Actually going to France, holy crap.

I'm just not going to comment on the Les Mis cast change brouhaha; I've already commented plenty on comms, forums, and other people's journals, and I'm kind of burned out on discussing the whole thing. Still want Cameron Mackintosh to go jump off a bridge, still pissed off and want Ben back, but I got most of it out of my system last night.

I called the bank's number to report my debit card as lost and got the supremely helpful message of "To report a lost or stolen card, please enter the sixteen-digit card number now." Yeah, I'll just go grab my card now and look at the--oh, wait. Whoops. So I called back, got on the line with a customer service rep, and he said they'd send me a new card; at the end of the call, after he'd already set the whole thing up and given me my confirmation number, I asked what the most recent charges had been to make sure nobody had picked it up and started spending merrily away. He said the last charge to it had been at the Chinese restaurant up the street. Where I ate the day I lost my card. Which means that my "lost" debit card is probably sitting behind their counter this very instant. Whooooops.

I also bought my plane ticket for France the other day. So whether or not the language immersion program falls through--they've been in email contact and seem pretty nice, but I have no written confirmation from them--looks like I'm going to Bordeaux in July. Yay!

So you decided on Bordeaux? I have a few friends who spent a year there and from what I've heard, you need to try hard to escape speaking English. I recommend attending parties and meeting French people in the cafes because it's really easy to just hang out with the Americans. Anyway, bon chance! J'aimais bien mes temps en France. Et Bordeaux est vraiment plus belle que Clermont-Ferrand. (Et le vin est magnifique.)

Anywhere is prettier than Clermont-Ferrand. J'ai oublié que tu viviais au Newark de France *g*. Ou est-ce j'y pense parce qu'on fait des pneus?

I totally fucked that up - god, my French has gotten awful.

But yay France!

Oh man, I was there when Édouard Michelin himself died and the funeral was ridiculous. Have you been to Clermont? We always called it the Oklahoma of France but I like Newark too. Mon francais devient plus mal chaque jour. Je dois retourner dans l'avenir proche ou je vais oublier tout!

Wonderful. Congratulations if you manage to get in the program.
