Also re: the strike.

Yes, Local One are being stubborn asshats, but at least it's honest asshattery for the most part. Every single statement I've seen from the League has been so shamelessly manipulative and passive-aggressive that I just have zero sympathy. Pre-emptively cancelling the next week of performances smacks of "nya nya, let's see who runs out of money first," but following it up with a statement about how it's all the fault of the greedy union bums is just tacky.

I have no doubt that both sides are responsible for the negotiations standstill, but the producers lose so many points for trying to paint themselves as the victims. Ugh.

I'm more concerned right now that a) shows will start closing, which screws me the stagehands in the short/medium run and b) the poor other unions using up their strike funds on the prolongation won't be in a position if other contracts come up (at least I hope that won't happen in the next year, so they can rebuild their reserves, thinking mostly of Equity here).

Plus the actors are bored, yo. Cut my boys and girls some slack :)

I just worry the stagehands will back themselves into a corner with actual show closings. And that's not just a personal worry that OMG, the weekend before last can't have been my last time at Broadway company! It's worry for the people of Broadway company, too. I wound up with strong affection for that cast. I don't want Equity members screwed over by other unions. I want all unions to come out of this OK.
