Holy Madness: Romantics, Patriots, and Revolutionaries, 1776-1871. Not specifically French, but definitely sets the tone for Europe of the time, especially if you want to understand the political fervour and where all the Enlightened philosophers were getting their crack from. XD

(Also, I have/have on my wishlist all but three on the list. Wow.)
