PARIS.

So [livejournal.com profile] mmejavert and I are in PARIS after about twelve hours of pure hell. US Airways sucks and our flight was pretty uncomfortable, and Philly airport doubleplussucks because they managed to lose about two dozen people's luggage. Including the one bag we checked, that happens to have most of Jenn's stuff in it. So we haunted the baggage carousel for an hour looking for the damn thing, then spent another hour waiting in line just to turn in our lost-baggage form, then spent a considerable amount of time looking for the Roissybus terminal, and I'm sure you can see where this is going. We got to the apartment three hours after the appointed rendez-vous, there was nobody there, and we didn't have a key. At this point we were both pretty exhausted and fed up and generally Not Happy, but after a very flaily telephone call in the booth across the street, we got everything sorted.

So now we are in the apartment recuperating. And we're still pretty tired and anxious about the stupid suitcase, but in the meantime, the apartment is gorgeous and Paris is gorgeous and when naptime is over we're totally going out and getting plastered on good wine.

Haven't been out yet except for CDG, the Place de l'Opéra, and our little section of Belleville, but hell, we've got two weeks. In PARIS. Just in case you didn't catch that part.

:D! The Roissybuses confuse me every single time. Which district is your apartment in?

We are somewhere in the vicinity of Belleville, which is nice and untouristy and has fabulous Asian restaurants. So the Roissybus didn't exactly dump us on the doorstep, but the Métro ride from the Opéra was easier than navigating the RER and doing three Métro transfers and argh.

Roissybus is pretty simple--it just runs in a continuous loop between the airport and the Place de l'Opéra with no intermediate stops. The bus terminal at the airport is a little confusing to find if you don't know where it is, though; it's a little ways to the right of all the Air France buses.

Gah - luggage horror stories are always sheer hell. I hope you get your bags!

But getting plastered on French wine being in PARIS sounds a-freaking-mazing. My best friend just got back from Paris and is, naturally, raving about it.
