Two reminders for my darling fandom.

At no point in the book does Enjolras call Grantaire "wine-cask."

At no point in the book does Grantaire call Enjolras "Apollo."

This has been a public service announcement from the much-maligned Department of Canon.

Where did the whole "wine-cask" thing come from, anyway? I get "Apollo", but . . . "wine-cask?"

Courfeyrac calls him that when Enjolras is trying to tell him to go home when they are building the barricade.

So R is called "winecask", but Courfeyrac should really be getting the credit. The confusion probably arises more because only a few pages later, Enjy is arguing with Gav over guns and calls him "Gamin!" as an insult.

ETA: Yes, I looked this up. In my mind, it was Bossuet, but in reality, it's Courfeyrac.

Why now? This is hardly a new trend.

Otherwise, word. It's tiring to find it in just about every fic out there:(

I saw "Apollo" in yet another fic and got annoyed. *shrug*

Oh, is it bad or good that I was going through the brick today (to make sure I didn't cite the wrong frenchboy above, also because I was double-checking that I was keeping the right side of the line with my Combeferre), and of course that "Night falls over R" scene made me go "Minarik!" and I hugged my brick and sobbed. (That is probably good, but I also have this horrid inclination to start making Bossuet descriptions, in fic, that could fit Nehal. Hopefully, it's just a sign that I miss barricade boys and Bway company had awesome boys, rather than a sign that I've completely lost it.)

I think everyone agrees that the Broadway revival had awesome boys. (Awwww, Minarik.)
