Apparently the French department has taken out an indefinite lease on my soul.

Have not heard anything re: study-abroad application, so I'm assuming no news is good news.

I just finished outlining an oral presentation I have to give on Balzac's La Maison du Chat-qui-pelote, which I have to discuss individually with the teacher today and then present on Wednesday. I am totally sulking about this presentation, because we spent exactly two classes on Hernani and didn't even have any homework on it (besides "read it and think about these questions"), and now our first two major assignments are on Balzac. SULK SULK SULK. Not that I have anything against Balzac, but Hugo is totally getting shafted in his favor, and I would much rather have written about the Battle of Hernani than about the role of marriage in La Maison du Chat-qui-pelote. Oh well. Unless the teacher totally nixes it, I'm going to make it all about the epic battle of ideals between Bonapartists and the bourgeoisie. (Brief meteoric glory followed by utter ruin vs. boring I-guess-I'm-happy stability: FIGHT.)

The upside is that our first essay is just an expansion of the presentation, so all I have to do is pad it to five pages with bullshit and quotes from the marriage section of the Civil Code.

I do suspect I'm not quite so well-instructed in French as the rest of the class, but I make up for it because they don't really talk unless the prof calls on them, whereas I keep interrupting the proceedings to fangirl Gautier's red waistcoat. Yeah, um. <____<

Er, we... don't hear anything at all until March, vis-a-vis study abroad. At least, that's what I've always been told?

But yeah, what day works best for you? Wednesday our HCA is holding a quasi-mandatory thing on body image, so that's out....

Yeah, Wednesday I have various choir rehearsals until about eleventeen o'clock, so definitely not a good idea. But tomorrow, Thursday and Friday I'm free all afternoon and evening, so whenever's best for you.

(And I had some loose ends with my JYA app--*cough*teachers not turning in recommendations*cough*--so the office said they'd contact me if there were any problems. I'm assuming there weren't any...)

Sure! Do you want to come to Tyler for dinner and we can meet in the dining room?

Er, the church I go to actually holds a home-cooked dinner for Smith students on Thursdays at 6, so I was planning on doing that....

Ah, okay. So do you want to just call whenever you're ready to meet up and we can commandeer Tyler living room again?

Sure! I'm not sure I have your number, though. Um, it won't last past 7... is it alright if I meet you at Tyler at 7?

Sure, sounds good!
