General-interest Québec City Les Mis info post!

So here is the deal. Québec City is putting on another run of their fantabulous Les Mis regional, and it's playing this summer. It is in French and if it's anything like the one I saw in October, it's about as true to the Brick as the musical is going to get. I've talked to a couple of people who want to go, and the best date appears to be the weekend of July 18. So who's interested?

Since Québec is so damn far away, this trip really is open to anyone sort of vaguely on the East coast. Basically, Northampton, Massachusetts is going to be the rendezvous point, because a) I'm working there at the moment, b) I have a double dorm room to myself with an extra bed and plenty of floor space, and c) it's not that hard to get to Québec from here. It's maybe a five- or six-hour drive, most of which is straight up I-90.

General plan: Everyone drives to Northampton on a Friday or Saturday night and crashes in the spare bed or on my floor or wherever. The next morning we pile into as few cars as possible--either we wake up super early to catch a matinee in order to drive back the same day, or we sleep in a bit and attend the evening show and get back in the small hours of morning. When we get back, anyone who needs sleep is free to stay in my room again, and after everyone is rested we go our separate ways.

Now, I'm not claiming my floor is particularly comfortable, but the two main benefits are that consolidating cars saves gas money, and that having a free crash pad in Massachusetts means nobody from the Mid-Atlantic is forced to make two fourteen-hour drives in a row and pay for a hotel along the way.

So, let me know if you have any interest in joining the Grand Adventure. Even if you're not sure you can make it (due to scheduling or money or parental permission or whatever), I'd like to know how many people are interested.

I'm interested. Not sure if my parents will let me go, and I'll have to check my schedule, but I'm definitely interested.

:D Excellent! I'd be happy to provide proof of real-life identity and harmlessness to parents if necessary, and/or vouch for the other people who might be coming.

I too am extremely interested but unsure for the same two reasons. It sounds like... well, to be honest, it sounds like the best idea ever.

Yay!

Also, since Massachusetts is in and of itself a fourteen-hour drive from North Carolina, you might want to see whether you can catch a ride with someone coming from DC. I'm not volunteering anyone, but it's highly probable that some people will be coming from there, and it's more like a five-hour drive from NC. (Or you could take the train to MA...)

I'm definitely a huge fan of trains and all that (it's how I got to New York those times to see LM) so if I get clearance to go at all I will most certainly be looking for something more reasonable than tying up one of my parents' cars for a few days. Thanks for the heads-up!

Yay! Just a heads-up, though, there's no train station in Northampton--you'd have to go to the station in Springfield, which is the closest thing there is to a city in central MA. From there, you can take the Greyhound to town (it's not far, so the fare is only $8 or so), or I can pick you up if you don't mind the wait when I inevitably get lost.

Okay, so I got my mom's reluctant permission to go (though she's convinved that I will somehow manage to be murdered, she did say that I'm technically an adult and there's nothing she can do about it, which was nice) and it looks like it'll be easy to tell Lowes Foods not to schedule me for those days, so I'm pretty sure I can come! My mom wants me to bring my only offline LM fan friend Emma along, if that's alright. But yeah, it looks like this will happen!

Yay! Tell your mom that I can provide offline contact info if she wants, including my entry in the college directory so she knows I'm a real person. God knows my mother still likes to know things like that even though I'm 21.

It looks like due to better ticket availability we'll be seeing the show on Sunday the 19th, so you'll probably want to take that Saturday, Sunday, and Monday off to allow for travel time.

I almost certainly can't come, barring a miracle, so please don't count on me or plan with me in mind, but if a miracle happens, I may figure out how to tag along.

Awwwww, I wish you could come. :( I'll leave wiggle room in the plans just in case, and at any rate me and several other people will be bringing back audios. *g*

I have general interest - honestly, my biggest obstacle (barring whether I'm available) is my own reluctance to drive that far. Maybe I'll take the train too.

Alas, I can't go, but it does sound fun.
