nrrrgh. I want my computer back.

Computer was shipped back off to HP a week ago. They say I'll have it back on the 27th, i.e. the day after I leave for France. I'm exceptionally unhappy with them, but last time I sent it off they had it back before the projected return date, so hopefully that's what will happen this time too.

There seems to be a direct correlation between being stuck on a tiny little netbook with a tiny screen and very little functionality, and not updating LJ very often. Maybe I just don't take as much pleasure in surfing the internet on this thing or something. In any case I want my computer back dammit.

I did have a very lovely weekend up in the middle of nowhere, PA with friends. We stayed at my grandparents' lake cottage and pretty much hung around fangirling, swimming in the lake, making disastrous canoe trips, having picnics in the woods, reading Romantic poetry, and drinking. Lots of drinking. We finished off the bottle of 1985 Beaucastel I got for my 21st birthday, which was... completely unlike any other wine I've ever tasted. More wood and leather than fruit and spice. In a good way! Just... wow. There was also drunken swimming, and absinthe and stargazing. You can see so many stars out there in the middle of nowhere. I don't think I've ever seen the Milky Way before.

Monday I went to Hershey Park with [livejournal.com profile] mmejavert, which was lots of fun. And Tuesday I visited my grandmother in the hospital--something had gone wrong with her medications, but she was doing a lot better when we got there and we got her out of the hospital that afternoon.

The past few days have been pretty uneventful. Lazing around, reading Neal Stephenson (still on The Confusion; I've neglected my reading a lot this past month), overeating.

Holy crap I go to France in less than a week.

Sounds like an ideal weekend to me!
