Uhhhh... just got a pingback notification. Even though I had pingbacks explicitly turned off, and verified this as soon as I saw the latest LJ news post.

despatches was linking to posts in lesmiz--would never have thought of Les Mis as an Age of Sail fandom!), but this is some major fail on LJ's part. Not just the opt-out, enbled-by-default thing, but the fact that you can't actually opt out even though it tells you you can.
