I now have short hair!
Hair got hacked off Sunday night--and when I say hacked off, I mean I went into my friends' room to do the Big Chop and started braiding it so I could keep it neatly afterwards, and ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
filia_belialis got a wonderful, slightly manic look and said "Can I ask you a favor? You see, I've always kind of wanted to hack someone's braid off with a machete..."
So yes. The Dramatic Chopping-Off of the Hair, an event deeply ingrained into the psyche of most people who saw Mulan as a kid or read too many dire novels about Victorian orphanages, was accomplished in true dramatic fashion: with an edged weapon. We are so lucky ResLife doesn't care about any contraband items except fire hazards.
(It also turns out that the Hacked-Off-With-A-Machete hairdo is the only chin-length cut that looks even halfway decent on me--seriously, it looked layered and artfully messy and kind of like this. I'll have to remember it whenever I end up growing my hair out again.)
Since we didn't have a buzz trimmer, I currently have a very short boy's cut accomplished solely with scissors. I might yet buzz it, especially since red really isn't my color with short hair and it's still kinda maroon at the tips.
Photos forthcoming! I believe the dorm's resident Nerd Posse is organizing a steampunk photoshoot, so pictures from THAT will certainly be posted. Plus, classes are cancelled tomorrow due to GIANT MOTHERFUCKING SNOWSTORM, so we have lots of free time to fuck around with cameras. (And build snow forts.)
Now all I have to do is figure out what to do with the braid.
