Day of the Moon: great ep, wish there had been some monsters in it! Because I don't remember any.

Oh god. Oh god what was that. I mean... it was really cool! But omg so many plot threads. I trust Moff to tie them off properly more than I'd ever trust RTD, and the fact that he's laying them out this early in the season is incredibly ballsy and means he's keeping track of them, but wow, way to torture your audience! I think Steven Moffat is secretly one of his own monsters and he feeds off the psychic waves of our terror and anguish. The more fear we give him, the more access he has to our fears and panic buttons and the better-equipped he is to manipulate them the next time.

So the big question is OMG BABY TIME LORD WHAT?! Also who killed the Doctor? Also Amy's quantum pregnancy! And I have a Theory.

We know that:

1. The Silence have a Thing for TARDISes and presumably scavenging Time Lord tech in general. They're the prime suspects for blowing up the TARDIS in season 5, the pseudo-TARDIS from the Lodger was probably theirs, we see another one pop up in their tunnels, and the one from the Lodger needed someone to fly it and zeroed in on the Doctor.

2. There are people who would destroy the Earth for just one cell from a Time Lord's body.

3. Amy has been hanging around the Doctor for ages and is probably covered in bits of his biomatter and also snogged him, which as we saw in Smith and Jones leaves traces.

So my Theory? The Silence want a little Time Lord they can control, possibly to fly their pseudo-TARDIS. They yoink some of the Doctor's genetic material off Amy and recombine it (à la the Doctor's Daughter) and use Amy as a surrogate for the Tiembaby.

(Also, I was loling all through the "Will it have a time head?" conversation. Awww, did somebody stumble across the tiemcock meme?)

Or, you know, we can forget the rest of the theory and just boil it down to: Amy is preggers with a tiembaby, but this is not the result of any shagging in the TARDIS, she's the surrogate for something created entirely using the Doctor's genetic material. The Silence are probably behind it somehow.

Also, just throwing this out there: we just saw one Time Lord killed off "for good" and now there is a mystery baby Time Lord running around. Coincidence? Probably not, but god only KNOWS what Moff will spin this into.

Little girl regenerates into Eleven.

Quite possible! Or maybe little girl regenerates into Twelve, and all of Matt Smith's future seasons take place in that two hundred year time gap.

I,m on board with that idea too. Especially since I seem to remember he was 902 or so when he regenerate in to Ten, so if Ten's four year stint as the Doctor lasted less than a decade in show then 200 years could still give us a very long time with Eleven. I do like the idea of giving him a definite ending ahead of time. Especially since there is so much room for adventures in between. Be interesting to see how Amy and Rory would stay involved that whole time. And river. So much timey-wimey...

People are also floating the theory that the little girl is River, and she's Amy and Rory's daughter. (Man, I love early season theorizing.) To this I would add your first point: River sure is good at flying the TARDIS, isn't she?

I'm really not sold on the "River is Amy's tiembaby" theory--doesn't sound like Moffat's style. It would, however, be hilarious if River were Amy's surrogate tiembaby created by the Silence out of the Doctor's DNA. Because then the Doctor would have no grounds at aaall to tease Amy about flirting with herself.

Well, didn't Moff say he wanted to retcon the Doctor's continuity? Get rid of the whole "look me up, most feared monster in the universe" thing? I reckon the Doctor's death has something to do with that.

Something along those lines--and now I'm kicking myself and trying to find the interview, because it'll probably end up being massively important and I can't remember where it was.

NO WAIT HERE IT IS. “If the Doctor is dealing with life forms that he’s defeated on multiple occasions, it’s not like they haven’t noticed. It’s not like they haven’t written it down. You are going to be able to stand up at Stonehenge and say ‘Who’s first? Look at the score sheet, and take your best shot.’ It’s going to happen. At the same time, he can’t keep doing that. It could be quite damaging for the show. So it’s something that I’m bring to a head, and kind of ending.”
