Is it bad that picking up a TV fandom makes me suddenly want to VID ALL THE THINGS even though I have never touched video editing software in my life, let alone made a fanvid?

(The answer: not necessarily a bad thing, but did it have to happen during finals week.)

Seriously, all the things. Some of them are scarily fitting and appropriate things ('42' and Rammstein's 'Sonne' were practically written for each other). Some of them are just me going on a middle-of-the-night Emilie Autumn bender and getting cracktastic ideas and then realizing they might actually work. ('Misery Loves Company' as a Doctor/Master vid: started with cackling over terribly obvious visual gags for 'who's getting warmer now that I'm gone?' and the whole 'pray for me' section, then the whole song wouldn't leave me alone. Similarly, I think I could pull off 'Opheliac' as a tribute to Ten's crazypants dysfunction and have it come out only half-joking.) In any case, this is a problem! Because I still have a fifteen-page paper to write and an exam to take. I manifestly do not need the giant timesuck of learning video editing software and picking clips and slowing them down/speeding them up to get the timing right and all the other nitpicky things that come in between "lol this would make the best vid ever" and having something you can put on YouTube.

...and yet I want to. So badly.

WELCOME TO MY BRAIN. I have at least two absolutely complete Who vids in my head plus bits of others. So far I have resisted only because WMM is the shittiest vid software ever and I don't want to spend money on an editing program until I know I'm at least mildly competent at vid-making.

(Actually I keep wanting to make an Opheliac vid to David Tennant's Hamlet. But Ten works too. XD)

(The moment I realized 'Opheliac' might work for Ten in an only-semi-joking way was listening to the 'as the water rises up again' part and realizing all his best crazypants-scary-fucker moments involve water. Except Human Nature/Family of Blood which belongs in the 'speaks in the third person so she can forget that she's me' section anyway.)

I just--the Racnoss and 'keep me breathing' + Turn Left and Waters of Mars + 'how could you possibly think you had the power' and wow we are kind of spoiled for choice when it comes to selecting clips for 'you know the lies I tell when you've gone through hell and I say I can't stay.' And and and Doomsday + 'but never doubt--' and oh god I could use the shoe full of radiation for 'my stockings prove my virtue.'

Ooooh yes, all of this. Gah now I am trying to figure out if this can be chronologically told, like, as a downslide, but ... no, because the 'but never doubt --' bit is certainly Doomsday, or I suppose can be an intercutting of Doomsday and Journey's End? Also, obvs the 'whether I swim or sink that's no concern of yours' bit is Martha Martha helloooo Martha JUST WALK AWAY FROM HIM. So really it's about how Ten is terrible and no one can make him better and he possibly makes everyone else worse? TENNNNN. <3

Was definitely thinking Doomsday for 'but never doubt,' and I was thinking of saving Journey's End/Consolation Ten for a strategically placed 'when you've gone through hell and I say I can't stay' (the first one or the last one or maybe the one right after 'but never doubt').

And yep, it would totally be an anthem to how Ten is terrible and fucked-up but it's all because of his ~~~issues and we kind of love him despite himself.

Also! Misery Loves Company. Would definitely be chronological (first verse works scary-well for Utopia, second verse works scary-well for Sound of Drums, and then 'pray for me' would have to be a ridiculously extended Tinkerbell Jesus joke), but I'd been holding off on thinking about it more than that because I had no idea what to do for the chorus, besides YANA the first time round. AND THEN IT HIT ME. End of Time. Six billion Masters. 'Hell is others' indeed. There might even be enough material there to be able to leave in all the @#$%! repetitions of the chorus at the end.

And now I'm not sure which of these songs I want to do more.

sdklsdjdfs OMG EXCELLENT. If you want enthusiastic help with it, though, which I would be more than willing to give in terms of both brainstorming and figuring-out-how-to-vid (assuming of course you don't mind me butting in) then my vote would be Opheliac, just cos I know the song better. :D

Oh it can definitely be a collective effort! I'm leaning slightly towards using Misery Loves Company as a first stab at vidding, just because clip selection will be a lot easier when you've got four episodes as opposed to four whole seasons (counting Season o' Specials) to get footage from. But I am willing to try either way!

Actually, 'Sonne' + '42' would probably be the ideal first try, because it's just one episode. But I don't have specific clips in mind for that like I do for the Emilie Autumn ones--general ideas, but nothing like my desperate burning desire to see 'who's getting warmer now that I'm gone?' paired with the Doctor angsting over the Master's Jedi funeral pyre.

See, I had vids in my head for Les Mis, but never pursued it for lack of decent video footage. Which is so, so not a problem for Doctor Who and so now I have the possibility of acting on my stupid vidding urges. This may or may not be a good thing. XD
