Okay, I think it's done.

Here there be an updated, prettified, revised version of the 'Misery Loves Company' vid:

Higher-quality: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EXTYLBDV
Streaming: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc-e2IAApLQ

Sorry for shamelessly using you all as my vid betas. I swear that if no one spots any glaring problems with this one I will make it the final version.

And now, onward and upward: working on a Waters of Mars vid to Bowie's "Space Oddity." This shit is addictive.

I LOVE IT A LOT IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING. I mean, I loved it last night, but with the edits and in the light of day it is kind of delightful and gorgeous. :D

Waters of Mars vid to Bowie's "Space Oddity."

Ooh, that sounds awesome.

Now permit me to show off my geekery by asking if you know about the acoustic version of that song. Because there is one, and it's awesome.

I did not know about that! Tell me moooore.

(Also, David Bowie is a Time Lord: y/y?)

There is! It came out in 1979. There are some really interesting differences in tone and structure - I bet you could tell two different stories about "Waters of Mars" with the two different versions of the song.

(Also, David Bowie is a Time Lord: y/y?)

MFY. True story: The loose narrative arc of Ziggy Stardust has an ending identical to the ending of "The Three Doctors," which coincidentally aired a few months before Ziggy Stardust came out. (I took a class on Bowie this past semester, I am full of random facts about him and his work.)

Oooh! *listens* That is really cool--the difference in tone that really struck me was that both versions have one line that's delivered differently, sort of wistfully, but in the acoustic version it's been moved from "tell my wife I love her very much" to "and the stars look very different today." And you're right, I wouldn't even be able to make the same vid to the acoustic version. Because the "tell my wife..." line is one of the turning points of the current vid: Adelaide, her granddaughter, and a gun.

...that's it, Bowie needs to be the twelfth Doctor.

Honestly you can use me as a vid beta ANYTIME! I love vids. They're my favorite. ^-^ *is watching now*

Thoughts, I have several.

Your editing is very seamless, that's awesome cause I know that's not easy to do.

Your clips are really good quality.

The beginning was slightly random on clip selection but somewhere around the first minute it became fantastic!

I hope that was what you wanted. If not then you can ignore this post. =P

Thanks! The editing is mostly down to the quality of the software, really (Sony Vegas makes it really easy to do), but I did try to do the clips properly with lossless encoding etc. right from the start. Eats up disk space, but it's worth it.

The beginning has the clips keyed to individual lines in the song--at that point I was mostly just fucking around and amusing myself, then around the first chorus I realized I could make this a srs video with ~themes~ and shit.
