Ten Little Chances to be Free ([personal profile] tenlittlebullets) wrote2011-08-09 01:50 am

Oh look, I forgot to update LJ again. Various things have happened--more job possibilities, more hanging out with cool people, an impromptu trip to New Jersey that almost ended in disaster, more writing--but frankly I can't be arsed to type most of it up. I guess I am just not in "give LJ a blow-by-blow account of your life, such as it is" mode lately.

Things that are maybe exciting enough to write about:
- 90% sure I am going to Dragoncon with [livejournal.com profile] srevans and [livejournal.com profile] ariastar! Which means I need to overhaul my weeping angel costume. And decide whether my backup cosplay will be Ten or Simm!Master. And do a fuckton of babysitting unless I want to dip into savings for hotel money.
- New York trip next weekend! Aunt and cousin are renting a flat for five days and have offered me couch space. SWEET.
- There is a semi-harebrained plot afoot to open up a geek bar in a college town somewhere--current contenders are Pittsburgh and Boston/Cambridge. The scary part is that I am not sure exactly how harebrained it is, given that all speculation on the subject contains about 40% srs bsns considerations like how to get a liquor license in Cambridge and 60% "and we should have a TARDIS, and an absinthe fountain, and serve the drinks in beakers and test tubes, and have cocktails with names like Exterminator and Han Shot First." Obviously it is fantasy at this point, but it could totally happen you guyz and be the best thing ever.

oh no, what happened in New Jersey? I'm curious! :)

Nothing too exciting, alas--went to pick up my brother who was stranded in Morristown, partially dislocated my front bumper on a hidden curb while trying to back out of an unfamiliar driveway in the dark, had to deal with staggeringly condescending auto mechanics at a rest stop on the NJ turnpike. (Including a "wait, this is your car, not his?" double-take while I was lying under the car explaining the damage and Brother, the only other male in the immediate vicinity, had been snoring in the passenger seat the whole time. Uhhh.)

ugh, mechanics

Let me know about that last 10% soon, yes. If I do need to catch a plane instead I should get on that soon. But ROAD TRIP.

Also, my vote is for Simm!Master. BE ALL THE VILLAINS. :D

The last 10% is rapidly dwindling, and consists mostly of me refusing to believe elaborate long-term plans are happening until they happen. But there is planning! [livejournal.com profile] srevans and I are currently devising a cunning plot for cheap parking once we get there.

Simm!Master would be fun! But I would have to cut my hair just when it has hit nearly-perfect Ten length, and also drop upwards of $50 on a laser screwdriver since the stupid toy is discontinued. (Mind, I'd have to drop $$$ on Chucks and a sonic for Ten, and there is the slight problem of me having stolen John Simm's face. INDECISION.)

Excellent! Okay, unless otherwise told I am assuming you're showing up on the 31st. :)

Yeah, see, you already stole John Simm's face! Also, eh, Ten hair will grow back, and you don't ... strictly need a laser screwdriver? You can just hypnotize people or something, idk. :D

But I enjoy having Ten hair on a day-to-day basis! It obeys its own personal gravity. And--and--

--yeah, fuck it, I'll see if I can whip up a 'Vote Saxon' lapel pin or something.

If you do open a geek bar in Cambridge I will be there every night. :D

JSYK, I would totally go to that bar. :D

So I was already planning on getting a bartending license next year... But best thing ever yes. Such a bar would immediately suck up all my money and I wouldn't even care.

(And posters and maps and TVs playing in the corners and costumed trivia nights and a mechanical bull decorated to look like I-don't-know-what and the stools/tables in the shapes of famous spaceships and and and)
