Les Mis kink meme, what even

So within about a week, at current posting rate, the Les Misérables kink meme is going to have more comments than the original Doctor Who kink meme. WHAT. BUH. THIS IS NOT A SENTENCE I EVER THOUGHT I'D TYPE.

For comparison purposes:
[livejournal.com profile] sizeofthatthing (est. 2008): 12,924 comments over 3 posts
[livejournal.com profile] eleventy_kink (est. 2010): 15,002 comments over 2 posts
LM kink meme (est. 2009): 11,428 comments over 3 posts, ~10,000 of which were posted in the last two MONTHS

I continue to be... just sort of boggled, and at a loss on how to moderate it. Because hahaha guys remember 2006 when there were like three people in the whole of Les Mis fandom and every scrap of new fic was precious? Now there are people going NO GIVE US PROMPT FREEZES THERE IS TOO MUCH ACTIVITY YOU NEED TO PUT THE BRAKES ON IT. The part of me that's been modding the meme since Christmas is nodding vigorously; the much larger part of me that's been in Les Mis fandom for eight years is going WHAT NO WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT EVER. Does not compute--error 400 invalid request--this system has encountered a critical error and thrown itself into the Seine.

(Edit: As of the night of March 20th, 16,835 comments and still going. Will we get to 24,601? Will we surpass both of the Who kinkmemes combined? TERRIFYING.)

I've been purposefully drastically limiting my fandom intake while I work on my thesis, but it warms my heart to read this. THIS IS MY DREAMS COMING TRUE even if I had many issues with the movie, if it makes other people love Les Mis, then I AM ON CLOUD NINE. It was part of what made me sad about finally dropping RP due to time constraints -- after over seven years of being a lone canon warrior for a super-obscure fandom (and let's not even get into the eight years before that...), I COULD FINALLY TALK TO LARGE GROUPS OF OTHER PEOPLE ABOUT IT.

And gosh, good on you for modding that madness. LEAD ON, BRAVE WARRIOR.

Wow, that's a lot of comments! I salute you! It probably will taper off after a while and become saner.

HA! The Barricade is still holding strong. We have new recruits!

Damn.

I mean - wow. I have no words. Also agree with your kneejerk reaction of "but we can't limit fandom cause it'll die! We know this to be true!" But you are a saint for modding that thing.

There is the slight problem of the fact that lots of posts aren't showing up on the meme?

Like I left a prompt (properly and everything!) almost two days ago and it still hasn't shown up!

And someone added onto a fill I've been following today but I was only able to find the posts by looking through the "flat view" of the round. :C

If you're using ?format=light to make it display with the old/LJ-default comment page, make sure there are no thread markers in the URL, because LJ does a weird thing with suppressing new comments after you reply to anything.

If that doesn't work or you're using the community's default comment pages, clear your browser cache and try again.

If that still doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you, because I'm not seeing any screened comments and I certainly haven't deleted any.

Ah, this is a different anon. I'm also having trouble posting new prompts recently when I was able to do so with no problems on Round 2 last week. I've been using the first Round 3 link which was supposed to get rid of thread markers and refreshing the page, but still no dice.

Also would you mind maybe providing an example of what a thread marker is, because this Pontmercy anon has no clue.

(and thanks for all your hard work as a mod on the meme, as there's just been so much great stuff from Les Mis fandom that's been sprouting up on there)

A thread marker is one of these things that get whacked onto the end of the URL: ?thread=2811617#t2811617

What happens when you try to submit the prompt? Does it churn and churn and never load, or does it just silently take you back to the comment page as though your comment went through, or what?

Also if you can remember any keywords/phrases from the prompts you submitted, I can search my inbox to see if I got comment notifications for them. If I didn't, there's a good chance LJ just silently ate them.

It took me back to the comment page like it went through. I posted it twice actually, since the first time it never showed; the second time, captcha actually came up, I typed the words in and I saw the prompt show up on the comment page, so I assumed everything was peachy, but when I wandered to the chatter post and back onto Round 3, it disappeared.

The prompt was Javert/Jean Valjean, hurt/comfort, post-seine, development of awkward friendship and UST, and there was some stuff about Valjean protecting some children from being run over by a jerk on a horse, and the phrase "the wrath of Javert" comes to mind.

Yeah, they're both showing up for me:

Version 1: http://makinghugospin.livejournal.com/11823.html?thread=4842543&#t4842543

Version 2: http://makinghugospin.livejournal.com/11823.html?thread=4846639&#t4846639

Try looking up how to clear your cache in whatever browser you're using? It could be that the browser is spitting out a locally saved version of the page instead of actually requesting it from LJ's server. Clearing your cache will delete the locally saved version and force the silly thing to request the latest version.
