Today I'm giving away all the old dolls and the stuffed animals that people foisted on me when I was little. I kept a few that had sentimental value, but overall I just got a great satisfaction in seeing all the Barbies and teddy bears that had been stuffed under the bed for eight years all packed up in a crate to be sent to Purple Heart.

I've also started doing Phantom of the Opera fanart. ph33r.

Thank you, asshole! Now if you knew me at all you'd probably gather that I'm far more likely to stand outside the theaters like a crazy person picketing and protesting the latest propaganda campaign from the religious 'right' than participate in your stupid 'pass this meme on and you'll be SAVED!' thing. I also notice that you're too cowardly to leave me anything but your IP address, and I'm sure that leaving that was accidental.

Please refrain from spamming my journal again--go troll some actual Christians.

What the -- ?!? That Passion thing scared me. *shakes head* There's no reason for them to do that.

Anyway, I wanted to ask you about Phantom. I recently bought the book, and I was wondering if you've read it, or if you've just seen the play, and which is better? I'd really like to see it, mostly because you've said so much nice stuff about it, but unfortunately the theater here sucks big time. :-(

Yes--Phantom is a really and incredibly good book. It mostly deals with his life before the Paris Opera, although there is a whacked-out ending section with Christine that's just plain weird. They're equally good, in different ways--Phantom is virtually unflawed up to (conveniently enough) the point where the musical starts, and the musical is a complete butchery of what actually happened in Leroux's original novel, but no one really cares because it's coherent and romantic and the music is really good. So, yes, Phantom is recommended reading.

The Passion thing is just o_O. I mean, despite my sarcastic comments above, I don't have anything in particular against the movie, but the chain-letter thing is annoying.

Cool. I'll probably read that after I finish The Scarlet Letter. Thanks for the info! :-)
