Well, this is annoying. At about midnight last night my Internet was suddenly terminated with extreme prejudie, and I haven't been able to get back on. I had to log into my shell account on the college server and use frickin' Lynx, which is how I'm writing this entry. Text-only browsing is fun in a retro sort of way at first, but when it's the only internet you have it gets old really fast. Especially on message boards, which are so not designed for text-onlies.
At first I thought I'd been blocked for hogging bandwidth, since I was being a naughty monkey and posting mp3s to high-traffic message boards and LJ communities, but no. I went down, asked them to reconnect me, got a lecture on copyright, then went to the administrator and found out I was not on the block list. Thanks a bunch, guys.
*grumbles* I know I'm connected to the Internet--ping works, traceroute works, SSH works, but none of the higher-level applications like Firefox or AIM will connect. Grrr.
