(no subject)

-Digital camera (squee!)
-Original 1931 Dracula on DVD
-Two books and a "Presidential misspeak" calendar, as well as a "mom loves ME best" sweatshirt, from Nana
-$50 Barnes and Noble gift certificate; might get more if I can wheedle my brother into giving me the ones he never uses

Coming soon (my family has a grand Christmas tradition of having presents trickle in through the end of December and early January, so the best stuff will be arriving in the next few days/weeks):

-40 gig iPod (SQUEE.)
-Bowed psaltery, a funny ren faire instrument that's loads of fun to play
-Second Japanese Phantom recording

Bought myself:

-Wacom tablet, which will be waiting for me when I get back to school
-Scanner, ditto
-Sisters of Mercy t-shirt
-fully intend to go wild with the gift cards in the next couple weeks, as there is no B&N in Great Barrington
-will go thrifting later next week. Heh.

But the best part of Christmas? COOKIES. Lots and lots of cookies. Heavy, sugary, fatty, heart-attack-in-a-jar ginger molasses cookies, which my mom and I "improved" with half the contents of the spice drawer. And I mean LOTS. Seven dozen, although due to the fact that we ate them as soon as they were cool enough while another batch was still in the oven, by the time they were all assembled on the racks they had been reduced to five and a half dozen by various members of the family. They will last, at most, three days. We are a family of cookie monsters.

Also, I have realized that my spring semester is going to be stress hell. On my plate for the upcoming semester:

-First-year seminar, required English class type thing
-A History of American Imperialism
-German
-Rehearsals for Company (at the same time as German!)
-Drawing from Imagination
-Chorus
-Evening German conversation "class"
-Tae kwon do
-Violin lessons
-Possibly voice lessons
-If I'm lucky, a part-time job at the hardware store in town

To put that in perspective, I have seven classes. I had four last semester and had plenty of work. Most people have five; suicidal overachievers have six. I am one under the max credit limit, have two classes at the same time that I will have to juggle, and want to do music lessons, tae kwon do, and hold down a job as well. I must have some sort of death wish, despite having only three hard academic classes.

Anyway, Merry Christmas, everyone. I tried to convince the parents to do movies (Phantom, what else?) and Chinese food, but alas, we are far too traditional. Turkey and cookies for us tonight. Oh, the tragedy. *tear*
