Hmmm... I've just discovered that not only do most people not see colors with their music, there's an actual name for it. So apparently I have synesthesia.

I have to wonder if someone in Rammstein isn't synesthetic as well, because the Sonne video has some striking similarities to what I see when I listen--quite difficult to describe, but the colors and the underground thing (although I didn't picture a mine shaft) resonate nicely with my vision. It's almost like my current layout in terms of color scheme, the yellows and oranges against black, but the balance is a little different and... oh, it's difficult to describe. And the Mutter album art is that same murky green as the song Mutter itself.

Ich Will is pretty though, with muted blues and purples sort of pulsing against a black background. And the Wilder Wein studio version is so radically opposite the Live aus Berlin version--studio is like this almost, while live it's more like this or this.

Fun stuff.

Wow, that's amazing! One also says that plants grow better if you play them music (I think classical is the best) and some science guy grew crystals with different music, and got like 100 different crystals. Fun stuff. But I guess that has more to do with the wave length of a sound. But colors... that's new. And totally awesome. What colors do you see when you listen to The Phantom of the Opera?

With that it's less colors and more textures... Sarah Brightman's voice is sparkly, heh. So is the organ on the overture, which depending on my mood can either be shiny and brass-colored or like really dark green/purple velvet.

Electronic music gets the best results though. Right now I'm listening to Suicide Commando's "See You In Hell" and it's all red and orange and fiery.

If anybody in Rammstein has synaesthesia, my money's on Flake. (Of course it could just be his drinking.) Then again, Olli's the one who never even speaks. Ever. Maybe he's an Aspie? It's an interesting question.

That is so freaking cool... I never realized it wasn't something everyone had. I don't mix color and music, but I do have one of the variations you mentioned on General Chatter, which is mixing text and color... I always assumed everyone did that, cause I know [livejournal.com profile] idlemindgames and a few of my other friends do too...

Wish I saw color with music, though. That sounds kinda cool.

I Have synesthesia, too. I've tasted colours for as long as I remember. I bit into an apple in grade 4, said, "Ooh! That's a pretty orange!" and people looked at me like I was crazy. I always just assumed that tastes had colours and shapes had sounds. Guess not... I'd rather have synesthesia than be a normal boring person.
