Gah. Need a bit of tech support here. Whenever I open a p2p client it has some trouble with firewalls--DC++ works on passive mode only, Kazaa Lite won't connect, Ares tells me my firewall is being bitchy and won't connect, eMule won't connect to any of the servers, and Bit Torrent (I'm using the Azureus client, by the by) gives me strange connection errors as well and tells me I need port 6881 UDP open. So far as I can tell, there are three lines of security on my computer. One is the default WinXP firewall, which I have told several times to make exceptions for my p2p programs and to open the required ports. The other is F-StopW, which the Simon's Rock tech crew installs on all Windows computers that connect to the campus network, and which I think is a virus scanner but could also be a firewall. And the other is Norton. I've shut down Norton and F-StopW [shut up, I'll bring them back up before I download anything], and grappled endlessly with the Windows firewall, but to no avail. Help, anyone?
