OMG NO I MUSTN'T. I am saving for the road trip. I am saving for the road trip. I do not have the cash to throw away on the Varmland single. NO I DO NOT. Butit'ssoshiny.

Re-watched the TAC for the first time in ages.

- Is Michael Maguire a baritone attempting to sing a very tenor part? Every time I see him he annoys me more.
- Philip Quast is the sex. Just, y'know, in case anyone forgot. I did, but this put me firmly back in my place.
- You can see the exit sign aaaaall through ALFOR. It must be symbolic. Eponine's tortured soul is flying away towards the exit sign. Yes.
- AHFOL is boring. Marius and Cosette have to fall in love for the plot to grind on, but LM isn't a romancey sort of love story, and there's no pretext of originality in AHFOL. It doesn't even matter what they're saying, really, which is why the shitty lyrics have stopped annoying me. They're in love, they say stupid things, it seems wonderful to them and really dumb to everyone else. That works.
- Michael Ball has a good voice and his Marius is adorable, but he's too old on the TAC, I'm sorry. He looks like a cross between a televangelist and the guy you'd hire to sing muzak at some posh event or another.
- I find it intensely ironic that the first thing I ever loved about LM was how gen-ish it was. The first time I saw the TAC I think I cheered aloud at "Who cares about your lonely soul?"--"fuck the romance, let's get to the revolution" was what I originally found endearing about Enjolras. I think slash has turned into a bad habit for me and my higher brain is revolting against it.
- The microphone arrangement in One Day More still amuses me.
- I wibbled all through the Sad Oboe Solo of Dead Frenchboys for the first time in ages. I thought it had stopped affecting me. dangling!Enjy looks far more Enjolraic than Michael Maguire.
- Still can't see what anyone ever liked about Judy Kuhn. Her voice completely lacks that sweet quality that Cosette needs.
- At the end of Master of the House, someone--I think it's Jerome Pradon--snuggles another Frenchboy and it amuses me.
- Audios don't give you as much of the actor's interpretation as videos. After having seen multiple people in the various roles, I think the only people on the TAC who hold up as The Best are PQ and Ruthie. The rest are either sub-par, good-but-I've-seen-better, or in a role where I've seen many equally valid interpretations. Though of all the casts I've listened to, I still think the TAC has the best all-around cohesion, and for that I'll put up with two or three people I don't like.
- Mummykins popped in for the ending and the encores. She did a great big "omg" face when Jeff Leyton did his verse of DYHTPS and went "his voice!"
