Because I haven't been updating enough lately, have some utterly pointless tidbits about my life!
I have utterly failed at doing anything useful lately. Closest I've come is slowly meandering in the direction of putting a Tour Guide of Obsessive Nerdiness up on the website, but I haven't actually done much work on it. Maybe I'll get to that tonight; I had some wine earlier, which gives me insomnia after a few hours, and three cups of strongly brewed Irish Breakfast probably aren't helping me sleep either.
I have a rather painful scrape on my finger. It's not serious, just a little patch where the skin got ripped off, but I have no idea how it happened. One minute I was feeding hamsters at the store, then I looked down and there was blood all over the place. It's been a couple days, but it hasn't scabbed over so it still fucking hurts. I've been changing band-aids twice a day and putting bactine on it because I'm a freak and I will kill something if it gets infected.
Dentist's appointment tomorrow. Baaaah.
Seeing Nehal in Mother Teresa is Dead in Pittsburgh Saturday, then Les Mis on Wednesday the 17th. Twice, because I bought Box A for the matinee before I heard that Jeff Kready would be on as Valjean for the evening. Then, uh, Les Mis again on Saturday the 20th, to see Lea and Ali off, and again on Wednesday the 24th to see Judy and Leah and OMGWTFJOJ. Also November 3rd 'cause it's Minarik's birthday and I can't miss that. At some point I might sneak up to Beverly, MA to see the regional LM there, but it might not be the same time as the rest of you.
...maybe I should start working a second job to afford all my Les Mis. Oy vey.
I have a to-do list that includes cleaning my room, transcribing some of the Révolutions du XIXe siècle trial records, a few plotbunnies, and three or four sections of the website that need updating. In more vague--and of course more important--news, I should really be looking for another school to transfer to, or at least finding someplace to use my French before it gets rusty.
Criteria for a school are basically small- to medium-sized, not in a terribly hot climate, decent language and linguistics programs, not too politically correct, not high-stress, and most importantly that just-for-fun interdisciplinary study is encouraged. Because so help me god, what is the point of college if you can't major in linguistics while taking side courses in French history, music, and atomic chemistry?
Of course, this is assuming I can find a school that'll take me and my screwy academic record. No high school diploma, no SATs, two years at Simon's Rock with a mediocre GPA, one fail and one or two withdraws, two classes at a local community college because I didn't have enough credits for my associate's when I left Simon's Rock. Granted, the lack of SATs can be fixed, but my transcript will still make me look like a total fuckup.
Okay, I'll stop rambling now.
