After walking halfway to Easthampton and shelling out $115 cash, I did get my car back, and I discovered when I read the ticket that I was not parked in front of a fire hydrant. Apparently they ticket and immediately tow anyone parked on Main Street after 2am, for no particular reason I can discern--maybe street sweeping?--and with no posted warning that you can't leave your car there overnight. The only thing the meter says is that you have to pay from 8am to 6pm. I looked around for a fucking sign about it when I first left the car there, and when I didn't find one I was silly enough to think that was because there was no rule against overnight street parking. Gosh, how could I ever have been so stupid? e______e

Now the car is safely back in a long-term parking lot and I am ready to slap some city officials right across the face.
