Relief and more frustration.

Okay. I'm home. I missed my appointment of course, but I got my tires replaced and drove home and I'm going to get the front alignment checked tomorrow because I think that's what was chewing up the tires. I made it home in about six and a half hours because there were magically no traffic jams in either DC or Baltimore. At 6:00 on a Friday. Yeah, don't ask me. So I'm home and the boat trip is still on and dear god do I need a shower and a good night's sleep.

My "fixed" computer was waiting for me at home. I say "fixed" in quotes because I have no doubt they replaced the motherboard (and the broken screen hinge for good measure), but after they did that they apparently didn't check to make sure it worked. So now it turns on--the little lights come on and I can hear the hard drive whirring--but the monitor doesn't. Unless you take the battery out while it's booting up, at which point it will show you the WinXP loading screen and then go blank.

Fuck you, HP. When I send my computer in and pay through the nose for you to fix it, I want it fixed.

God this has been an unnecessarily stressful 24 hours.
