Small question.

Is it considered impolite to leave neutral feedback on an ebay transaction when the item was lost/heavily damaged in the post through no fault of the seller? One would think that's what the 'neutral' option is for, when you have no way to evaluate the transaction because you didn't get jack shit, but the last time that happened the seller got terrifically bitchy about it even though it was his fault the item broke.

I think that's actually the best idea. I didn't give any feedback at all when I ordered off of a seller on Amazon Marketplace and then the post office lost the package (and it still hasn't surfaced). It wasn't Amazon's fault or the seller's fault but I have nothing to give feedback on.

I don't think so.

Some people want positives even though the transaction was less than stellar. Leave a neutral and say perhaps they should hone thier packing skills or something.

The one seller I dealt with went absolutely psycho when I gave her negative feedback after the item arrived with postage due. (I missed the "neutral" option, I think.) I get the feeling some people are a little obsessive about their ebay feedback.
